Nepal Tour

Nepal Tour

Postby ATC Director on Mon Jun 09, 2008 4:54 pm

The Nepal tour will begin on June 21st at 6PM ET. Each session will last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. We will be flying to all the airports of nepal that are common to both FS9 and FSX. You may use any aircraft you prefer that has a normal cruise speed of 120kts or greater. Be advised that altitudes of 12,000 ft plus will be encountered as we scale some of the high areas of Nepal so make sure your aircraft is capable of these altitudes.

Those flying in FS9 will need to vist AVSIM.com and download and install the following freeware files by Holger Sandmann and Einar Aarvik.

fs_him_b2.zip
fs_him_b3.zip
fs_him_01.zip
fs_him_04.zip
nepal_fs9_v2.zip
nepal_fs9_v21.zip
(If you wish to install Holger Sandmann's entire Himalayan mesh covering averything from the southeastern ranges thru Pamir you will need fs_him_b1.zip thru fs_him_b5.zip and fs_him_01.zip thru fs_him_08.zip. We will only be flying in the areas covered by the files listed above.)

The files should be installed in the order they are listed above. Installation documentation is found within each download. You will not need the Nepal Scenery Mesh of Martin Domig as stated in the install document for nepal_fs9_v2.zip. Once you have everything installed you need to go to your Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\Nepal\Scenery folder and find the files called Tumlingtar_A16N.bgl and TUMLINGTAR_VNTR.bgl. Replace the "bgl" with "bak" on each of these files. There seems to be an elevation problem and if these files are not disabled you will be landing about 75 ft above the ground and the parking area will be floating above you.

Those flying FSX will have to use the default scenery and mesh as I have been unable to find any free upgrades for this area of the world.

Each sessions starting airport and stops will be posted to this forum a week in advance. Be at the starting airport and ready to go about 15 minutes early so any connection problems or other delays can be taken care of prior to the start time.

These sessions will all be flown on the VintageATC Session server and will use channel 119.50 on TeamSpeak.
Blue above, green below ... a beautiful day
